Rural physicians until recently have had few tools to help their patients escape opioid addiction. Methadone, the most common treatment for opioid addiction, is unavailable in many rural areas. Dr. Roger Rosenblatt (UW Dept. of Family Medicine) and colleagues from the UW and WSU are engaged in Project ROAM (Rural Opiate Addiction Management Collaborative) and Project ECHO (Extension for Community Health Outcomes), offering rural physicians tools to address this epidemic health issue in rural Washington, including a training in Spokane on March 29.
