Today's Newsweek Magazine posts an article about Good Samaritan Laws -- with both pro and con opinions about their results. Do they save lives by encouraging people to call for medical help in an overdose situation, or do they let drug dealers get away with breaking the law? Researchers from Roosevelt University who recently issued a report on E.R. visits for heroin overdose in Illinois say that medical care for heroin overdoses could be improved by “good Samaritan” laws, which currently exist in only two states (Washington and New Mexico).
Brian Doherty comments on the Newsweek article in his blog for Reason Magazine.
