XII Annual Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine, March 4-5

Providence Regional Medical Center, Everett will host the XII Annual Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine conference in Marysville, WA on March 4th and 5th, 2010.  The highlight of this year's course is the 6 lectures plus panel emphasis on cannabis, to be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010, with a goal of sparking a scientific discussion and to promote a scientific examination of the cannabis issues.

This annual conference attracts approximately 300 attendees, including physicians who specialize in family practice, internal medicine, psychiatry, addiction psychiatry residencies and fellowships.  It will also be of value to professionals who work in a detox unit, training program, outpatient program, and to therapists and public or city/state officials.

Print Materials Give-away from Washington State Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse

The Washington State Alcohol/Drug Clearinghouse is reducing its inventory of printed reports, brochures and other materials, while maintaining digital copies.   CSAT TIPs and TAPs, and assorted posters, brochures, and booklets will be available (free) to the public at the Clearinghouse warehouse beginning Saturday, Jan. 2nd between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

After the kick-off on Saturday, Jan. 2,  the warehouse will be open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 3pm or by appointment.  The best materials will be available in bulk quantity on the first day.

Participants for Study of Motivational Training & Assessment

The University of Washington is seeking participants for a study of several measures of counseling skills relevant to Motivational Interviewing (MI).   Study participants will receive up to $100 for completing two assessment protocols.  Assessments are completed online and over the phone. To qualify, you need to work at least half time in a clinical setting dealing with clients with mental health or substance use problems. At this time, we are soliciting participation only from residents of the United States due to difficulties issuing payments, mailing headsets, and providing phone-based technical support internationally.  As all study materials are in English, fluency in English is also required.
