Charles Chavkin, PhD is one of nine UW faculty recently named as Fellows in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Chavin is a professor of pharmacology and director of the Center for Drug Addiction Research. He was recognized for his contributions to the study of opioid peptide pharmacology, including the role of dynorphins and kappa opiod receptors in pain and stress. He is the UW's first Allan and Phyllis Treuer Professor of Pharmacology, and was formerly an associate director of the UW Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute.
